East meets West Fusion Ensemble

A vibrant collective of world-class musicians, the East Meets West Fusion Ensemble brings together the rich traditions of Chinese classical music with the soulful groove of jazz, pop, and contemporary sounds.

At the helm is Ywenna, a Singapore-based jazz pianist and vocalist, whose performances have graced international jazz festivals, private launches, and gala dinners across Asia, Australia, China, Korea, and South Africa. Known for her versatility, multilingualism, and charismatic stage presence, her band "Tokyo Blue" has released two instrumental albums and toured extensively across Asia and beyond.

Joining her is Jessica Lu Jie, a renowned Sanxian virtuoso from Xi’an, China, whose artistry blends Chinese traditional colors with modern fusion. A celebrated recording artist and award-winning composer, Jessica has performed globally at WOMAD, Edinburgh International Festival, and the Chicago Jazz Festival, and collaborated with icons such as Philippe Saisse (NYC) and V. Selvaganesh (India).

The ensemble is completed by Mike Chiang, a visionary conductor and music director with over 30 years of experience. Founder of SZINC and former pioneer of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Mike has led orchestras to award-winning performances, collaborated with Hollywood composer Harry Gregson-Williams, and directed sold-out crossover concerts from K-Pop to movie soundtracks.

Together, this powerhouse trio—and their ensemble of supporting musicians—offer a one-of-a-kind experience where East meets West, tradition meets innovation, and music transcends boundaries. From intimate gala nights to world music festivals, the band delivers performances that are both culturally rich and universally captivating.
