Gu Zheng | Pipa

 

Cheah Peiqi and Cheah Xueqi are highly accomplished Singaporean musicians and twin sisters celebrated for their mastery of the guzheng (Chinese zither) and pipa. As prominent figures in the local and international traditional Chinese music scene, they are celebrated for preserving cultural heritage while championing the instrument.

Cheah Pei Qi 谢培颀 graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), majoring in Pipa and minoring in Guzheng. She is an active performer in the Chinese orchestra scene and has participated in numerous local and international performances. Pei Qi has received multiple prizes in various Pipa and Guzheng competitions, including First Prize at the National Chinese Music Competition (Guzheng Open Category). She is currently focused on music education as the lead instructor at her music centre, and is also a Guzheng and Pipa player with Z3nith Ensemble and Yue Ensemble.

Cheah Xueqi is equally skilled and often performs alongside her sister. The twins are regular fixtures in Singapore's traditional arts scene, frequently blending their expertise on both the guzheng and pipa.
