Bianca Beng
Harpist
Bianca Beng is a Singapore-based harpist. An avid performer, she has shared her music with a vast international audience, winning top prizes at the Thailand International Youth Harp Competition, Asia Harp Chamber Competition, and Enkor International Chamber Competition. During her studies at the Royal Academy of Music, she was awarded the Guy Magrath Harp Prize (2021) and “Very Highly Commended” in the Skaila Kanga Harp Prize (2020). Most recently, Bianca
won the Sydney Concert Orchestra (SCO) Concerto Competition 2024 and will debut with them in their 2025 season.
Bianca has also been invited to perform in an array of local and international events such as the World Harp Congress (Hong Kong), Académie musicale de Villecroze
(France), Asia Harp Festival (Korea), World Harp Congress (Australia), International Harp Festival (Thailand), Young Artist Harp Seminar (USA), Harp of the Orient (Malaysia) and the Lee Kuan Yew World Cities Award Ceremony (Singapore).
In addition to solo playing, Bianca enjoys performing and collaborating with other musicians. During her time in London, Bianca premiered pieces by rising composers
such as Pizzica by Louise Drewett, One Night of Passion by Mikolaj Majkusiak, and Two Souls into One by Robert Pete.
In Singapore, she performs with West Wind Band Singapore and has collaborated with Vox Camerata, a local Chorus. Bianca is also a founding member of Viva Rave,
Singapore’s first professional harp ensemble whose aim is to promote harp music. Orchestras she has performed with include the various Royal Academy orchestras (including its Symphony Orchestra and Musical Theatre Orchestra) under renowned
conductors such as Semyon Bychkov, Robert Trevino, Sir Mark Elder, and John Wilson.
Throughout her years of studying the harp, Bianca has been fortunate to participate in various masterclasses with Skaila Kanga, Isabelle Perrin, Isabelle Moretti, Sylvain Blassel, Karen Vaughan, Catrin Finch, Anneleen Lenearts, Anne Sophie-Bertrand, Lavinia Meijir, Alison Martin, Yolanda Kondonassis, Catherine Michael, Mieko Inoue,
Susan Brady, and Kimberly Rowe.
Bianca was awarded the Iremonger Marceau Family Scholarship and graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Masters in Music Studies (High Distinction) under the tutelage of Alice Giles. Before that, she graduated from the
Royal Academy of Music in London with a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours), studying under Catherine White, and was awarded the Dominions Fellowship Award for her outstanding results. Alongside her Bachelors, she also completed her Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM) for Harp, teaching students of all age groups and backgrounds. She was involved in the Academy’s Open Academy Programme to explore different pedagogical approaches in the music education of children. Back in Singapore, Bianca was also active in the Rave Harps Silver Arts
Project organized by the National Arts Council (NAC), an initiative that provides new
opportunities for seniors to engage in the Arts.
